Pending Projects: Forest Management
We are also considering a project that would broaden public awareness of sustainable forest management practices. SustainFloyd would develop and distribute a directory of options and services related to the harvesting of woodlots. The general public could easily access the names and contact information of loggers, sawmills, forest management consultants and governmental services, allowing landowners to make informed decisions. Further, this would describe the whole spectrum of practices from clear cutting, to “worst-first” selective horse-logging, and explain the pros and cons of these various methods and environmental consequences. |
